Unexpected

A religious party in Pakistan that rages against terrorism? I'd say that's a really good start:

Supporters of Pakistani religious party Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan hold a rally to condemn ongoing violence by militants in Pakistan, Friday, Dec. 11, 2009 in Karachi, Pakistan. They condemned suicide attacks and praised Pakistan army fighting against them. (AP Photo/Fareed Khan)

Of course, they're also not fond of "foreign interventions" and "American Taliban" -- the first sounds like a reference to us; the second, the American Jihadi Brothers -- but I'll take an almost ally in the Middle East wherever I can find them.

Besides, who doesn't like the foreign intervention of a cool $1.5 trillion dollars in cash?

Oh, and by the way, Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan also rages against Valentine's Day. Sure, it's a point against them, but seriously: Who's counting? Besides, they were much more moderate this year as compared to their previous burnination, so I'm cool with it.

And I know I do this every time the headline "Unexpected" comes up, but the song's daggum awesome, so here you go: Japanese rock mega-star Hyde sings it live.

Consider it my way of making up today's lack of Happy Friday goodness to you.

Update: Copyright-busted original version of the song here, thanks to some shady-looking website, just on the off chance that you're curious. Make sure you use a stronger browser to load it, obviously.

And notice that in no way, shape, or form do I endorse nor condone copyright violations.
