Not interested in meaningless almost-technical babble? Might be a good idea to gloss this one over. (But please, do be sure to leave a comment so we can see how well this works!)
I'm trying to come up with a way to make it easier for you Nervous Nancys to post comments around here. First, I moved the Comments form back onto the main article page. Unfortunately, there's an "issue" with Drupal where the "CAPTCHA" field (that hideous block of letters and numbers that you're prompted for) causes the page to load quite slowly.
So I nuked it. Guess what happens when you do that?
If you guessed "Snapped Shot gets deluged with a pile of spam comments overnight," pat yourself on the back, because that's exactly what happened. And the reason it happened is that the anti-spam module I picked (which worked splendidly under Serendipity) doesn't work at all here.
So I've installed Mollom. Hopefully, this will do what we want, but it's only good for non-commercial use up to a certain amount of messages per day. Which might hamper "growth" around here, so I might have to swap out to something else later.
But hey, with the way y'all have been clamming up (via here) lately, maybe that won't be as much of a worry as I thought.
