Ultra Orthodox Jaw

An ultra Orthodox jaw holds a poster next to a Palestinian flag during a weekly demonstration in Sheikh Jarrah at east Jerusalem July 23, 2010 REUTERS/Ammar Awad

The multiply-redundant single-point-of-failure editorial desk at Reuters strikes again.

Notice that Ammar Awad doesn't see fit to identify the gentleman above as a member of Neturei Karta, one of the fringe-est of fringe groups in existence today. In neglecting to point this out, is he attempting to legitimize NK's radical beliefs in the eyes of the few who still believe Reuters provides unbiased reporting?

Or is he just too pressed for time to be bothered to put relevant information like that in caption?

Judging by his little faux pas, I'm sure either explanation holds merit.

Wait, I am confused.

I thought we were talking about Zioniest Jaws.  You know like the one Sampson had?  ... and you all you show is a non-zionist non-jew.

Brian, you need to work more on your logicical thought process story structure.

The placard reads in Hebrew "Jews are not Tzionim"

I suggest that this guy should have paid a bit more attention to Megilas Eicha (Lamentations) which we Jews read in shul last fast of Tisha beAv (a week ago) where the navi (prophet) Yermiyahu refers to the Jews of Yerushalayim (Jerusalem) as "Tzion"

Eicha 4:1-2

1. Alas! The gold (the people of Jerusalem – Rashi) is dimmed! The finest gold (people) is changed! Sacred stones are scattered at the head of every street! 2. The precious children of Tzion (the children of Jerusalem) who are comparable to fine gold – alas they are now treated like clay jugs, the work of the potter.
