Falling Flat

The real deal (* actual reality may vary).

John MacDougall of Agence France-Presse has put together a composition that captures the entire essence of the Obama presidency in this picture. Here we see a presidency that really wants to be loved by the world, the quintessential politician who aspires to be a rock star some day.

But alas, he's also someone who doesn't want to put the time into actually showing up for duty in person to win any such trust.

Throw in the somewhat disinterested and ironically un-surprised crowd (see inset), and you've got what I think is a truly iconic representation of the way things stand today.

(But enough about me—what do you think?)
