The Shock! The Horror!

It seems that David Selbourne of the Spectator, a British newspaper, seems to have a bit of a bone to pick with the blogosphere, and although he couches his criticism as a general complaint against all of we Yankees, he essentially spends the entire article lambasting the Conservative side for having the sheer audacity of criticizing Islam.

Today, however, it is the sheer violence of emotion on blog-sites which is most striking. The true patriot would seize American ‘appologists [sic] for Islam’, ‘hold them with their feet to the fire until they are screaming, and watch them squirm’; while a ‘liberal’ voice yells into the ether that those who have supported the war in Iraq ‘should not be given a chance to breathe. Pound them into the ground until they never get back up, evil bastards!’

Sheer violence? Of emotion??

David Selbourne
Good Lord...

Far be it from me to suggest that Islam is a violent death cult. Or to suggest that its most radical adherents are bloodthirsty savages.

David, if the world were to ever witness a case where Christians disembowel and dismember a man for nothing more than trying to teach women, I can assure you that I will wholeheartedly call those Christians barbarians. Until such time, though, there really is only one group that deserves the label:

Liberal journalists!

(Would their catchphrase be Allahu Where's-the-bar? Inquiring minds want to know! Let me know what you think a liberal suicide-bombing signoff would be in the comments, if you feel like it. And please do forgive the bad jokes - I'm still rather low on coffee this morning!)
