Incredible!

An international incident.

Two Libyan fighter pilots, under orders to bomb a group of the protestors that are reportedly marching in the streets across that country, have instead landed on the island of Malta, formally requesting political asylum.

That these men would rather give up their careers than bomb innocent civilians is fantastic enough, but the fact that they actually got away is even better. One hopes that this signifies the beginning of the end of our well-dressed dictator's reign of terror.

Two Libyan Air Force fighter pilots defected on Monday and flew their jets to Malta where they told authorities they had been ordered to bomb protesters, Maltese government officials said. They said the two pilots, both colonels, took off from a base near Tripoli. One of them has requested political asylum. REUTERS/Darrin Zammit Lupi (MALTA)
