The Ghost of Snapped Shot

Or, welcome to my low-maintenance heck.

HACK

Predictable.

A photographer, upon photographing Obama's Big Speech on Exiting Afghanistan, creatively composes his frame to include a glowing "EXIT" sign.

I mean, maybe it took a tiny shred of imagination to come up with the idea to do this, so I guess I can respect that to a certain extent. The hackery of the overall theme, though, I'm not sure I can forgive. While it's definitely a creative composition, the fact that Saul is using it to promote the hackest of messages -- that is, Afghanistan is The Unnecessary War that We Must Leave, except for When It's The Good War -- takes away from the creativity of the shot, in my opinion.

A television monitor in the Brady Briefing Room displays US President Barack Obama as he speaks during a prime time address regarding Afghanistan from the East Room of the White House in Washington, DC, June 22, 2011. Obama announced that 10,000 troops serving in Afghanistan will return home by the end of 2011, with the remainder of the "Surge" troops home by September 2012.
