The Media/Activist Matrix

Equally needy.

I like how this particular photo illustrates the symbiotic relationship between press and activist -- One has a desperate need to talk about anything, anything!, that fits within their comfy little worldview; the other, a wholly limitless need for attention.

Add to that the human factors to the story, and it's just too good to pass up. The press, eager to cover those condemning the indescribable horrors of beauty pageantry, is most likely completely missing out on the fact that the news media would be totally lost without beauty and all of its associated measures.

But hey, who has time to bother about asking the little questions in life when one has to keep screaming for the makeup girl to get here NOW!

Demonstrators hold up signs in protest during the "Pull the Pin" national rally against child beauty pageants at State Parliament House on May 24, 2011 in Sydney, Australia. Anti-pageant protesters gathered in all Australia's state capitals to protest the US-based Universal Royalty Beauty Pageant competition scheduled tale place in Melbourne on June 29-30.
