I think this shot, taken by White House photographer Pete Souza, illustrates very succinctly the Obama Administration's relationship to Old Europe. And what better way to point that out than by providing detail views of two very particular areas of the frame.
On the left, we see someone who views himself as the new Emperor, marching on the world's stage as a natural-born leader -- at least, in his own mind.
On the right, we see Old Europe, whose view of the new Emperor's diplomatic miscalculations is somewhat less than positive.
