Why Gas Is So Expensive, Reason #64,309

We're barred from anything that looks like the "harassment" of "wildlife":

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) - Two environmental groups on Tuesday filed a lawsuit seeking to overturn new federal regulations that grants permission to oil companies working in the Chukchi Sea to disturb the polar bears and walrus that live there.

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Anchorage, challenges regulations issued last month by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that allow "incidental takes" of the animals, meaning permission to disturb or accidentally harass them as long as such actions do not result in physical injury or death.

Tuesday's lawsuit, filed by the Center for Biological Diversity and Pacific Environment, is the latest volley in legal challenges over protections for polar bears and other animals from expanded oil development in the Chukchi and Beaufort Seas off Alaska.

Tell you what:How about we round up every last member of the Center for Biological Diversity and Pacific Environment, along with all of their financiers (presumably of Teresa Heinz Kerry's Tides Foundation), and ship them off to some deserted island in the Arctic Circle.

That way, we all win, as (a) we'll improve the "Diversity™" of the island receiving said malcontents, and (b) the Courts have never ruled that it is against the law to "disturb or accidentally harrass" jackasses.

Besides, polar bears need to eat, too!

And nothing says "Down Home Polar Bear Cooking" like fat activist does.

heheheheeee

As long as we allow any and all lawsuits to go through and then PAY for THEIR attorney's fees, these economy-killing lawsuits will continue. As long as judges continue to rule against common sense and allow the greenies to run our nation into the 3rd century, then we will continue to starve from our own resources.

We need to remove that measure that anyone who sues on behalf of the environment or animals get their fees paid no matter. If one is going to sue for a non-humanoid, then one should not be able to make money off of it.

Also, these suits should only be allowed to be brought by private citizens who really care about the animals and not some organization that only wants money from the gov't and to stop development.

Or better yet, as we are in a state of war right now also, someone needs to stand up and declare a national emergency and put a stop to all lawsuits against carbon-based mining/drilling. Just put in a 10 year moratorium on all lawsuits.

we should ship all the hippy treehugging animal rights douchebags to the arctic. if they love the polar bears so much they can sit up there and watch over them 24/7
