Abducting the high-schoolers that Virginians won't abduct—Thanks for keeping our streets safe, Gerry:
A man attempted to abduct a 16-year-old Alexandria girl as she was walking to Mount Vernon High School Friday, Jan. 18, according to Fairfax County Police. This is right down the street from George Washington's Mount Vernon, incidentally.
She was walking in the 8300 block of Richmond Highway about 4:20 p.m. to an after school event at the school, police said, when a man in a vehicle pulled alongside her and attempted to pull her into his vehicle. She broke free and reported the incident to school administrators. She was not injured.
The suspect was described as white, possibly Hispanic and in his 30s. He had a chubby face with gold-capped teeth. The vehicle was a black sport utility vehicle. It had horizontal chrome stripes, a chrome grill, chrome rims and large tires, police said. [Ed.:—Sounds like a downright upstanding citizen, eh?]
