Merry Ashura

It'd be really interesting to see the kinds of warning labels that our legal forces would put on a product like this.

A Pakistani mother helps her son to buy him knives on chains to be used for the Ashura, a day when Shiite Muslims beat themselves with knives to mourn the death of their spiritual leader Imam Hussain, grandson of Prophet Mohammad, Friday, Jan. 18, 2008 in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Pakistan's Shiite Muslims will observe the Ashura on Sunday under tight security after a suicide bombing in Peshawar which killed 11 people in a Shiite mosque. (AP Photo/B.K.Bangash)

Leave it to the lawyers to take all of the fun out of this good, old-fashioned savagery.

Update: Great minds think alike? Since Charles is the only great mind amongst the two of us, one can only wonder. I did get the pictures posted first, though. ;)Très classy—In the wide, wide world of multiculturalism, would this be as valid a mode of expression as any?

GHASTLY!!! Evil, vile, horrendous, CULTIC, inhuman, ungodly, satanic......

I can't even begin to come up with enough descriptors of these vile people. Teaching their kids that hacking themselves with knives is what the god wants... WTH?? No "good" god would want you to do evil things to yourself or let alone others.

These people need to be put out of their misery.
