Eco-Narcissism

I'm not generally a big fan of lobby groups, but I think I may make an exception for this one. I'm prone to notice the flicker of fluorescent lights both at home and in the office, and if it's quiet enough, they generate a buzz that is definitely an irritant.

With all of that in mind, this next little tidbit makes a whole lot of sense (h/t Donkeyrock):

According to a British migraine lobby group, energy efficient light bulbs could be causing migraines.

A spokeswoman for the group said that the bulbs have been triggering migraines either because of their flickering, or the low intensity of their light.

Jurisdictions around the world have been moving toward banning standard incandescent bulbs. British stores will stop selling all conventional bulbs by the end of 2011.

Someone's been reading my Google Reader feed.

Heh, it's not like I have a choice—Your feed shows up with the rest of my reading list.

I'm not complaining, of course! At least you dig stuff that's generally readable. ;)

Regards,
Brian

My feed is all-powerful. BOW TO THE FEED!

I do tend to like reading readable material. :>

this little tidbit has been known to many who do not want to be forced into placing toxic materials into their homes and TOLD what kind of bulb they must buy. I heard about this about 10 years or so ago mainly from the regular fluorescent bulbs. I know when those flicker they make my head hurt.
