The media, in all of its glory, wholeheartedly participating in the celebration of a new weapon designed to kill Jews:

I hope to track down the news articles attached to this event, photographs from other wires that might have attended, etc. In the meantime, the only other photo I've found on the wires so far from this "celebration" follows in the extended article.
Update: Reuters is beginning to weigh in on this event, sending in a photo bylined Abed Omar Qusini. It's interesting to note that Reuters' version of this story is significantly different than the story presented by the AP.

Reuters is beginning to weigh in on this event. Their version of events sounds somewhat different than the AP's version, with the group, rather than the rocket being given the euphemistic title, and completely ignoring the new and improved Jew-killing weaponry. Could this be Abed trying to spin events? Did Reuters misunderstand what is going on there? Or is the Associated Press wrong?
Somebody has some 'splaining to do.
For those of you who might be new to Snapped Shot, this is not the first time that the press has coddled up to terrorist "press conferences." Just close your eyes for a second and see if you can picture the media showing up to a press conference organized by the Klu Klux Klan, and reporting on the Klan as glowingly as they do these murderous scum. After seeing photos like these, that picture really isn't all that hard for me to picture any longer. How about you?
The blind one-sidedness of the press continues to amaze me.
Update: The AFP has weighed in on this story. It appears to me that the truth, as usual, lies somewhere in the middle: The most likely explanation I'm able to come up with for this is that the group is called "Jondallah," and the weapons are too. The only reason this still seems odd to me is that there really isn't any need to come up with another offshoot of al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, as that group has not, to my knowledge, ever agreed to any cease-fire with the Israeli state.
Details, details. Too bad there aren't any actual investigative reporters in the middle east, but instead are only an endless fleet of gullible sycophants, who serve only to remind us that the press as a whole is a mere shadow of what it once was.

This just screams propaganda, and the MSM is shoving it at us with a big used car salesman grin. (no offense to any used car salesmen out there) For crying out loud, the rockets have their names written on them in English. That should tell you exactly which market this photo op is staged for.

I think this photo is a joke. The soldier with the helmet and US made M4 assault rifle is clearly an Israeli soldier. Who else has helmets and weaponry like that? And notice the double taped magazines in his M4 and how clean and new it is. The "Jondallah" looks about as functional as a bottle rocket and they have a few black mortar rounds lying on the floor with some guy who looks like he is trying to light them in order to shoot them! hahahahah, I don't think you have to worry about this new "Jew Killing weapon" because it is just an empty tube.

The Lebanese are known to steal equipment from the Israelis. there was a major scandal about a large amount of Israeli military equipment that turned up missing when the Army mobilized to enter Lebanon.
One of those people did appear to use NATO style stuff, sure. Most of the weapons I saw looked russian or chinese though.
And demonstration rockets in the US Army are generally painted white with a lot of red and yellow. These rockets were painted special for the camera and the black color isn't really evidence of anything. They do look functional to me.

Sure, weapons are usually OD green when you've got some sort of organizational standards. Rockets are also usually not made with bits from the local plumbing supplier.
When you're a two-bit band of Palestinian terrorists all you've really got is a wad of Iranian cash burning a hole in your wallet. Too bad the local stores are only selling Krylon black, white, and pink. We can all see how horribly that constrains their self expression.

This is a major development. These are the end product of a program begun with the crude Qassam rockets. These are standardized and finely finished. Which means that Hamas feels strong enough to have an in-place production facility for them as opposed to how they were making the Qassam...litterally on the fly.
