Either these signs are really railing against corruption in the mob-run Palestinian Authority, or they are genuinely anti-Condi.
We won't know for sure until we see the Incredible Burning Condi Effigy.
Update: The
Incredible Burning Condi Effigy has finally
made its appearance! Oh the joy! Of course, the effigy made its appearance at a
Hamas rally, not this one. I still haven't seen any additional shots of the signs above, so perhaps their message wasn't "coherent" enough for the press to continue to report on. And by "coherent," I mean "blatantly leftist." As usual.
Update 13:47 EST: A wider shot isn't much more revealing, other than to curiously illustrate that most of the protesters appear to be Western. The second sign from the left is also curiousâ"NO TO Palestinian Compromise...!" (The photo isn't very clear, so "Compromise" may not be the actual word used.
update, in fact, I don't think that's the word
at all, but the Reuters photo is too low-quality for me to tell for sure. Will have to wait for additional pics to tell for sure what that sign says.)
Even with a wider shot, this does
not look like your typical Condoleeza Rice protest
at all. Muhammed Muheisen would have us believe that it
is against her, yet even REUTERS won't go
that far. (The protest is "during" a visit by Rice to the Middle East,
not "against" her visit!)
This is quite curious, indeed!
Update 6-Oct-2006 11:03 EST: The
Incredible Burning Condi Effigy has
finally made its appearance, at what appears to be a Hamas event. Notice how distinctly different it looks from our mysterious protest here, though.
Update 12:06 EST: WOW! My first link
from the inestimable
CAMERA Snapshots (no relation) blog! My day is made!
